I
started attending 115 in 1959 after emigrating from Israel. Since my English wasn't up to
par I wound up in Mrs. Guido's class in 6th grade (6-6) which was for those of us that
weren't well versed in our native tongue. I guess it did the trick since I never had any
additional problems with English (forget about math). |

I
remember the wonderful garden with the rose trellis and the way the rows were laid out for
vegetables and flowers. I remember the reproduction of impressionist paintings hanging in
nice frames in the auditorium. I remember lots of ball playing in that park and my friend
Gary Gaslow's house across the street. |

Mrs.
Lederer-Kindergarten, Mrs. Furey - 1st and 2nd Grade, Mrs. Dorsey - 3rd Grade, Mrs. Okason
- 4th Grade, Mrs. Grathwohl - 5th Grade, Mr. Slavin - 6th Grade. All were good teachers
but Mrs. Furey was especially nice. I remember winning the "Funniest Hat"
competition in 1st grade in her class. Sewing in Mrs. Okason's class. Air raid drills,
waiting in the hallway, not knowing if they were real or not. Listening to the radio about
the Bay of Pigs invasion in 6th Grade. Good people throughout the 7 years. Jeff Sobel,
Joyce Garay, Jessica Millman, Steve Landesman(?), Robert Manuck and many, many more whose
names I can't recall. Learning to play the trumpet with Mr. Barconi (a-one and a-two and
a-..). Assemblies with white shirts and ties. Listening to Mrs. Guido's Glee Club. Hope to
meet up with some of my classmates at the reunion. |

I
moved to the neighborhood in '61, and wound up in Mrs. Kleinman's 6th grade class. She
always wore black, and was good friends with David Slavin and Mr. Reiderman. She was a
very demanding teacher. Her students toed the line and learned a great deal. I'm still in
contact with her in her new role as my mother-in-law (for the past 18 years)! Oh yes, she
did wear orange for our 6th grade class picture! |

I went to ballet school with Mrs. Tarbox. She lived across the street and was an amazing woman. Two of my teachers included Mrs. Schumacher and Mrs. Evangelist. Mrs. Evangelist was evil. The teacher's pet was Sheila Goldfluss. I am still friends with Maureen Holtzer. We met in third grade. |

I
went to PS 115 from the winter of 1957 (K) through 6th grade. Class sizes averaged 38-41,
at least they did in mine. I remember air-raid drill in the hall (to protect ourselves
from flying glass during a bomb attack!) the 6th grade clubs, chorus, assemblies and class
plays. Mr. Riederman was a pro at the plays, we always went over our time, but his plays
were legendary. My daughter went to K very briefly many, many years
ago there and remembered the "traffic light" in the hall (cafeteria doors).
Doing the Bossa Nova with Mr. Riederman during "dance", sewing a blouse with
Mrs. Evangelist and singing with Mrs. Guido, all during 6th Grade clubs, I think it was
called. |

I have
many fond memories of PS115, from the aroma of tomato soup in the cafeteria, to the great
friends I made along the way. My fondest memory was running for President of the Student
Council when I was in 6th grade and winning the election. I was also on the AV Squad
BEFORE it was the nerdy thing to do! :-) |

I went
to 191 for K- 2 then to 115 in third grade. Teachers: Mrs. Trembly(3rd), Miss Miller(4th)-
she got married that spring but I can't remember her new name, Mrs. Shulster(5th) a very
sweet lady, and Mr. Slavin(6th) He was terrific. I was to have a leading role in our class
play in 6th grade, but broke my arm the weekend before. Mr. Slavin made me the
"assistant director" and bought me flowers because I couldn't be in the play. |

I was
one of the tallest girls in my class. My 11th birthday was on November 22, 1963, the day
of the Kennedy assassination. I moved to N.J. in 1966 and I'm looking for Mindy Glazer who
was a childhood friend. |

remember Mr Turk lifting me up on his shoulders in front of a full
auditorium after my
class did a play and I was the announcer and forgot to say my name. He was so tall and I
was so Small and very embarressed. |

Playing
scully with bottlecaps, flipping baseball cards (I still have them), listening to the Greek
myths over the PA system, Mrs. Greene teaching us to square dance and entering the science
fields. I found my class (6-4) picture and could only remember 20 of 29 classmates. I also
found the autograph album, did we really mean all that junk we wrote? |

My
memories of 115 are a bit sketchy...I remember some of teachers, Mrs. Meteore (probably
have it spelled all wrong!) who used to "shhush" all the time. I remember going
to her home for a class trip and having a wonderful time. I always enjoyed gym and our
square dancing but was jealous of the boys who got to do sports! |

I spent
my years silently marveling at how smart everyone else seemed in my classes. Ms. Lubel
separated Ricky Auerbach, Larry Garshofsky and myself after second grade by putting me in
the "dumb" class in third grade, with Mrs. Dorsey. I hated her for it because
she was so wrong. I hate to admit that her ranking was probably on target, but the
placement WAS wrong! Mr. Riederman was the BEST teacher I ever had - hands down. I have
undying respect for him. I hope all of my former classmates are happy and well. P.S. How
could we possibly e-mail Mrs. Lederer or Mrs. Most? Weren't they 60 years old 35 years
ago?? Weren't they ALL??? |

The
best years of my schooling were at 115. In kindergarten I had 2 teachers, with an Am and
Pm. Mrs. Golden (who I believe recently passed on) and Mrs. Letterer. 1st. was Mrs. Fury,
we had breakfast in her class. 2nd Mrs. Dryer she wore very large rings. 3rd. Mrs. McKee
who left in the middle of the year (I think), 4th. Mrs. Sanders and a Miss Hubbard for a
while. Memory is starting to fade. Sorry 5th was Mrs. Sanders. 6th was Mrs. Rokaw. Glee
Club, going to my friends family Chinese Laundry where they lived in the back and had
lunch there. Anyone know where Alice Chin is? Brother Raymond, Sister Helen and Marion.
Could go on, loved the school. Looking forward to the anniversary. |

I
remember having Mrs. Letterer and Mrs. Cye in Kindergarden, Schwadron in 1st, Trembly in
2nd or 3rd, she got sick and Mrs. Wolfers took over, a wonderful teacher. Some other old,
nasty lady in 3rd or 4th, Granny Grathwohl in 5th, and Wolfers again for 6th. |

I
remember going home for lunch every day, bringing my grandfather the Herald Tribune that
was delivered to school. Then returning to the schoolyard and flipping baseball cards
until the bell rang. Once flipping after the bell and I wound up in Mr. Turk's office.
Lining up and then the entire class walking in together. I also remember that I had to go
to speech class in 1st and 2nd grade (Mrs. See both years) and missed penmanship nearly
every day. I now have the world's worst handwriting. I remember the teachers quite well
but I am not certain that I had the better teachers. Nevertheless, I believe they pushed
independent thinking much more than is done in today's classroom. Lastly, I remember the
plays and how thrilling it was to perform in front of all the classes. |

Kindergarten
with Mrs. Golden, 1st & 2nd with Mrs. See. Third grade with Mrs. Fryman, Fourth with
Mrs. Oakason, Fifth with Mrs. Grathwall, and Sixth with Mrs. Weiss. I remember when Mr,
Turk introduced the new Principal Mr. Zaslow. I remember my classmates:Kenny Finkelstein,
Lois Falce, George Gubernikoff, Aury Stollow, Rory Kaplan, Wayne Schweitzer, Michael
Horowitz,Mike Livoti,, Virginnia Bayer, Barbara Morse, Ira Stengal, etc. I remember lining
up in the school yard before school each morning, the Friday assemblies with white shirt
and tie, co-ed kickball, walking with my class through the halls, my
mother sitting as a
hall guard at the front entrance,#2 pencils, the class plays, singing with Mr.
Reiderman
at assembly, standing at attention pledging allegiance each morning, and the two things I
remember most were Hurricane Donna- (running home thinking the sky was going to fall),
and hearing that President Kennedy was shot, and seeing the teachers crying. |

kids to the school that made my life special, to show them where I learned to enjoy
school...Looking forward to seeing others from the past. |

Great memories of the years at PS 115. Have a fairly clear memory of teachers and classmates. My favorite was Mrs. Wolfers (6-2). What a wonderful woman. I have since returned to participate in the Principal for a Day program and even delivered the commencement address in 1997! The school is still a terrific place with dedicated teachers and students. |
